Green Poetry Gathering 2083 Held in Kathmandu, Blending Literature with Environmental Awareness

Kathmandu, June 8. On the occasion of World Environment Day, a grand poetry symposium titled “Harit Kavya Goshthi–2083” (Green Poetry Gathering–2083) was successfully held in Kathmandu.The event was jointly organized by Bartaman Kabita Samuha, Shabdankur Monthly Magazine, Ratoghar, and Koteshwor Multiple Campus at the auditorium of Koteshwor Multiple Campus in Jadibuti on Saturday.

The program was chaired by Campus Chief Dr. Prakash Pokharel. Speaking at the event, Bishwa Sigdel of Bartaman Kabita Samuha delivered the welcome address and highlighted the group’s continuous literary and creative activities. He emphasized that literature is a powerful medium of social transformation and plays an important role in raising awareness about environmental protection and nature conservation.
During the event, participating poets presented their original compositions centered on environmental issues, nature conservation, climate change, human emotions, and contemporary social realities.

Prominent literary figures including Gyanuwakar Paudel, Krishna Bause, Abhay Shrestha, Ramgopal Ashutosh, Yashoda Adhikari, Thakur Belbase, Mani Lohoni, Sudhir Khwabi, and Rajani Mila Rajani recited their poems at the program.
Similarly, poets such as Hariprasad Silwal, Bhojraj Neupane, Bhojraj Regmi ‘Mukale’, Ekta KC, Kisan Paudel, DB Bartola, Surendra Subedi, Dr. Himalal Shrestha, Amit Ghimire, Prajwal Adhikari, Rajababu Pahadi, Rami Priya, Dhir Kumar Shrestha, Bishwa Sigdel, Chandra Bahadur Lama, Bhawani Khatiwada, Chaitanya Adhikari, and Santosh Gharti Magar also presented works highlighting environmental consciousness and social concerns.
Literary figures Govinda Giri Prerana, Shakuntala Joshi, and Deepak Samir also presented environment-themed poems, while Keshav Bhattarai’s melodious ghazal added artistic charm to the event.

On behalf of Shabdankur Monthly, Dhir Kumar Shrestha highlighted the purpose of the program and expressed gratitude to all participating creators. Assistant Campus Chief Manoj Adhikari and Teachers’ Association President Suresh Pokharel honored the participating poets with tokens of appreciation.
During the mid-session, the covers of upcoming literary works were unveiled, including “Tejas” by Shailendra Adhikari, “Fulnuaaghi Nani Cha Swang” by Rami Priya, “Astitwako Brahmand” by Prajwal Adhikari, and “The Ghostwriter” by Diwakar Bhatt.

The event, jointly hosted by Chandra Bahadur Lama and Keshav Bhattarai, witnessed the presence of writers, intellectuals, educators, students, and literature enthusiasts in large numbers. Organizers described “Harit Kavya Goshthi–2083” as a meaningful convergence of environmental awareness, responsibility toward nature, and literary creativity.
